Welcome Archi students, my fellow slaves to design ! I'm proud to say my SRD 263 blog is up and running at last ! I must admit that I tend to share a love hate relationship when it comes to studio. Despite every hair ripping and nail biting second that goes into the actual design process , one seems to reach an almost a weird state of nirvana when the is work is submitted and you see everyone's final synthesis. ( No-Doze tablets looking really good right about now ! ) It's all about rising to the challenge and the sheer gruelling fact that your designs are never really resolved I guess .Well enough of this banter ... Enjoy!
Cheers ,

Minima design

My final design for the minima project is a boat front inspired minimal space which is solid and heavy at the back where the sleeping and bathroom areas are located, but at the front is light and projects forward and upward into the sky. I tried to create an enclosed safe feeling space for sleeping and an open space for the living area. The materials used are different shaped timber blocks which slot together, and would be easily demountable, and glass and steel. Here is the site for the structure, across the street from the Waterfront campus.
hello to all,
its the day before the review and the assignmens finally coming into shape, hoorah!!!
but nah its still gonna b a long nite tonight, wit dat model o mine, an it also being impossible to get hold of a scanner, lol but hey wat can ya do... finished 2 posters an trin to finish a 3rd and for once they look reasonably like i intended them to, mind you i do rekon that first poster is somewhat of a waste, so much more could have come from a 3rd poster, and whilst analysi of a project is important to gain some perspective i dont believe it is nescessary to present in a final format.
in other news, i hate scales of ani sort, ive realised now that my original scale for my design was much to large for the desired minimal requirements, so i have opted to go for a larger scale hence the design is much mor compact and fits the brief... hopefully all works out ...
untill next time peoples, ive been Leigh,

This is the later devlopment for the minima project. There are three main concepts which I develped here. I liked parts of two ideas so I eventually worked them together. I also like elements of other concepts which I would have liked to develop futher.

At the beginning of the second project I had trouble creating any succesful concepts. Here is my first development work for 'Minima'.

Minima... the assign that has brought through the crazy nature of those who wish to create a nation of miniature bungalos, in which there is not enough room to move... and yet there is, a number of designs have been brought fourth from my creative inner being however there has been one stand alond design
the idea that a ship, or even a space ship/ rocket would have been designed to minimalise the nessecarry space required to live seems to be a reasonably logical one given that there would be
no need for the luxuary items in space... hence fourth i have designed the main body of my minima project with the physical design of a space craft in mind.
the human phisique fints into a circle with somewhat ease, i have therefore made the walls and roof as the exterior walls may proceed to let you imagine, obviously the floor will be leveled off, however i did find it nescessary to ground the design as i felt it was insufficient to have the structure sitting on two pins, i based it on a wall as to make the design feel asthough it is stable nd firmly on ground, even though it has been elevated several meteres above the earth

G'DAY G'DAY, this is the first post of work from myself, and strangely enough is missing the most important part... the work itself, given that i curently have no access to the images required for this post i am anticipating that this post will be updated at a later date as to allow for my images to be present in this presentation, however i did get an N+ for it so it couldnt have been all that good so ure prob not missing out on all that much, lol. but the + makes all the difference ;)

Hey, this is my first blog for studio. For the project 'Minimal' I came up with three different concepts using different methods. The first idea I used jigsaw blocks which I fitted together to create a miniaml form.
The second idea I tried to create a shape that would enclose the occupant like a womb, making them feel safe and secure.
The last idea I tried to simply create a functinal floor plan, which did not turn out nearly as interesting as the other approaches. While I was creating these concepts I tried to move on quickly from idea to idea without developing one completely so that I didn't get caught up in one design and limit other outcomes. I think this approach worked, as usually I follow one concept until it is finished and can never seem to be able to come up with another one.
Anyway here is my first poster showing the design process of the minimal project.

Hello there everyone! I thought I’d finally get a move on with this blog thing because evidently it does not go away even if you wish really, really hard or do as your mother one said and ‘just ignore it’. If you can’t already tell I don’t like blogging, apart from that, this minimal project is quite fun!
This is the part of our chosen site I decided to situate my minimal, demountable dwelling for one. Reason- already semi enclosed, little hill allows for a two story construction with minimal supporting element such as load bearing walls, posts etc. also because it’s a great view and I had the brilliant idea that I can use the horizon line between the sky and ocean as a way to break up the design and by imitating it making some sort of design wall feature to enhance the aesthetics of my minimal. Furthermore I am trying to establish a relationship between the dwelling and the setting.
The actual gound enclosed space
Design idea i really like. Nature is quite inspiring, you just have to keep and eye out. Amazing!
Seeing that our chosen site was quite broard i first decided to just start drawing thumbnails and hope brilliance hits and then incorrporate the site into my design.

Didn't really work because the options are just endless, so i decided it would be best if i just restrict myself.

The View! and horizon line i was talking about.
